BUCKET LIST HIKE | Van Life Cederberg Mountains Part 3

We have been in the Cederberg for the past 2 weeks experiencing new landscapes, finding epic campsites, hiking trails and view points along the way. Welcome to part 3 of our Cederberg series. This week our goal was to tick off a bucketlist activity that we’ve had our eyes on for a while. Make sure to watch as this comes towards the end of the film. We hope you enjoy this part of the country through our perspective. We truly believe that the Cederberg should be on everybody’s bucketlist. We set up camp alongside the river with our friends from Awesome road trip. Here’s a sneak peak into our tiny home on wheels. With around 5 trails to choose from starting at this camp we decided to head out on the 8km loop before the sun set. It’s always a good idea to get outside for sunrise or set as the landscapes illuminate different colours. After some Rocky conditions and unexpected erosion we arrived at camp to sit around the fire and watch all the stars appear. A while later we had zig zagged up towards the top where we found ourselves at the base of the cliff that guards the summit. Here the route divides , the narrow crack is the recommended way up as it involves a fun climb and some obstacles. The wide crack is a more straight forward scramble up. We opted for the narrow cracks, we found ourselves squeezing through gaps and climbing large boulders, luckily there were some ropes to help. The orange rocks were glowing all around us. Once you are through the cracks it’s about 5km to the wolfberg arch, luckily it’s mainly flat along the summit. We spent the entire day on the mountain and hiked a total 27km that day. This is a hike we would recommend to everyone! #vanlife #travelsouthafrica #cederberg #vanlifesouthafrica #tinyhome #vanview #camping #campingsouthafrica #vanlifemovement #vanlifeexplorers #southafrica #seesouthafrica #meetsouthafrica #travelsa #vanlifesouthafrica #travelguide

WINTER Van Life in SOUTH AFRICA, Cederberg Mountains | Cederberg Van Life Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of our Cederberg series. Make sure to subscribe below to watch the rest. If the Cederberg wasn’t already on your bucket list these scenic drives should change your mind. After a 30 km drive and many view point stops along the way , we made it to our campsite , Krom rivier Cederberg park. We checked in at reception and found our private campsites along the river with our own personal amenities. We enjoy exploring our surroundings either by foot or bicycles , this way we are immersed in the nature around us , taking in the views and fresh air. Being on the move there is always something new to see. We find it vital to get outdoors as it always improves our mood , lowers stress and makes you in touch with your surroundings. Since the winter in Cederberg get so cold we found ourselves to be the only people bracing the weather conditions. The winter has its perks , with quiet campsite and autumn colours still present. We had bright yellow and orange coloured trees all around us. We arrived at Stadsaal caves which offered a lot more then we expected! We were blown away by the bright orange rock formations, and the countless caves to explore. This is a special part of South Africa’s history , These caves have formed over thousands of years due to wind erosion and other weather conditions. These caves have some of the best preserved san bushman rock art in the Cederberg region. A walking path takes you around these incredible overhangs and jutting rock formations , a leisurely stroll could take 30 minutes however we found ourselves in awe and spent about 3 hours exploring. Join us next week for the last part of our Cederberg series and possibly one of our most exciting adventures yet. A bucket list hike that we have been dreaming of! #vanlife #wintervanlife #cederberg #vanlifesouthafrica #travelsouthafrica #travelchannel 00:00 Introduction 00:34 Hey Guys :) 00:47 On the road 01:48 Arriving at camp 02:44 Morning hike! 04:30 Waterfall 05:11 Hike home 06:54 Around the campsite 08:09 WINTER morning 09:08 Onto the next adventure 09:38 Rock Art 10:04 Stadsaal Caves 12:12 Next week's film

Van Life Views in the CEDERBERG Mountains | Part 1 at Algeria Campsite

We hit the road making our way deep into the Cederberg mountains. The Cederberg is a vast area in south Africa consisting of large rugged mountains , rocky landscapes, ancient rock art , little streams, waterfalls, hiking and mountain biking. This will be a 3 part series over the next 3 weeks as there is so much to see and do! Make sure to subscribe to see the rest. We soon left the tar roads with about 20km of gravel ahead of us. We slowly started scaling the mountains Leaving all civilization behind. Exploring Cederberg has always been on our bucket list but we never thought we’d be here in our 2 wheel drive vans. These roads become very remote often you won’t see other cars for hours. Luckily we had safety in numbers, spare wheels and 20l of backup fuel thanks to awesome road trip , more to come on that. One of our favorite parts of vanlife are the drives in between destinations. We love watching as the landscapes change , South Africa is extremely diverse. The Cederberg region is largely guarded by cape nature. Cape nature provides accommodation options while conserving and protecting the natural environments around. We decided to tackle the rock jumper mountain biking trail. We soon felt that these trails were rarely used as they were very over grown. These would make a better hiking trail. But never the less we had a laugh and enjoyed the views. Since we have these epic electric bikes from Titan we decided to enjoy the last bit of light as we attempted our second trail. This one was a much more enjoyable ride and the mountain views with the sun going down was a great evening. This is one of our favorite parts of vanlife. When we have spare time we get to explore new backyards with different hiking trails and scenes along the way. This is a 5km in and out hike as you slowly scale the mountain towards a waterfall and viewpoint. Our last morning at Algeria camp we admired our surroundings as the change of season was so prominent with orange leaves falling off the trees with the cold winter temperatures. We started the day slow as we drank coffee , ate breakfast and caught up on a little bit of work in between. Since we were driving that day we decided to stretch our bodies with some acro yoga before hitting the road. Join us next week for part 2 as we find more waterfalls , sleep in weather below 0°c and explore caves with ancient rock art! 00:00 Introduction 00:34 Into the Mountains 01:12 Arriving at Camp 01:55 Mountain Biking Time! 05:08 Back home for the evening 05:30 EPIC SUNSET!! 05:45 Morning 05:56 Hike Intro 06:11 Waterfall Hike 07:11 Home after hike 07:24 Slow morning at camp 08:13 Acro Yoga 08:37 Outro 08:54 Subscribe :) #vanlifesouthafrica #vanlife #cederberg #cederbergmountains #travelsouthafrica

LIVING in a VAN traveling South Africa | Full Time Van Life

Have you ever wondered if vanlife is possible in South Africa ? We are Michael and acacia traveling South Africa full time in our self converted van yeti. This week we are going to share an epic campsite with you as well as give you some insight into what it’s like living vanlife in South Africa. We have been in our van for 6 months already! Time flies when you having a good time. Heading to our campsite we made a pit stop for lunch at a padstal , padstals are farm stalls along the roads with fresh produce from near by , pickled goods or perhaps quirky artefacts. We love finding these to support local and grab some fresh veggies. Since it is illegal to wild camp in South Africa we always book into campsites. We find campsites on ioverlander or searching on google. We arrived to our campsite just outside of citrusdale. Blinkwater has nice grassy sites along a little stream. One of our favorite parts of vanlife is the ease of setting up when we get to new places. It takes about 5 minutes to level the van, lay our mat , put up an outside table and then we have all the comforts of a normal home. - The campsite - https://www.instagram.com/blinkwatercamping/ One challenge as digital nomads working on the road from our van is signal. Often when we are in remote areas like this the campsites have no signal. Some camps have WiFi but it often isn’t strong enough. We have a wireless Vodacom WiFi router that we generally use but when there’s no signal we have to try new solutions. Grabbed our bikes and cycled closer to town in search of signal. After a morning of work we took the afternoon off for a potjie. A potjie is a traditional South African meal cooked in a cast iron pot with 3 legs over coals on the fire. This is a great communal dish to share so we spent the evening with awesome road trip around the fire chatting and eating good food. The vanlife community is growing in South Africa. It’s amazing to travel and spend time with other like minded people. Vanlife is definitely possible in South Africa and we plan to continue for quite some time. Next week we make our way deep into the Cederberg! Make sure to subscribe to get notified as we post weekly videos just like this. Inspiring you to get outdoors and travel local. Uncovering epic campsites , bucket list hikes and must stops along the way. We Hope to have you join the ride.
