Entering this property instantly gave a sense of peace and tranquillity, with a breathtaking view over the valley onto the Outeniqua mountain range with the sound of bees buzzing and a trickling stream. This property is perched high up in the Wilderness near map of Africa another great lookout point. With a coffee shop at the turn off convenient for us coffee lovers with a sea view.
Approaching the cabin we have an outdoor braai area with a hammock to relax under the tree and free wood supplied. This cabin came to life from a funky half tone VW van converted into a mobile home with a fixed bed in the back now being the main bedroom of this accommodation. The van is now stationary with the extension of the deck built around to incorporate a self catering kitchen and lounge facing the mountains with a rooftop as well as some open air deck area in front. This is the best spot to catch sunset as it goes down over the mountains. Since the establishment is off-grid one will find outside facilities. Venturing into the fynbos you find the outdoor hot water shower! Very private with a stunning view and nature all around. There is a compost toilet to save water with a basin to wash up. The kitchen is equipped with gas appliances and solar powered plug points.
The property is filled with natural plants and succulents along with bee boxes and many birds giving off peaceful sounds of nature. On hot sunny days all the birds are out beautiful for watching with their different colours and sounds. You can also hike down the property through the forest to the river below. We had some rainy days which we didn’t find a problem. The van becomes a cosy space to cuddle and listen to the rain. With free strong WiFi you can also get some work done or catch up on your favourite series ;)
I would definitely recommend this getaway, a great location with stunning views, friendly people and a different indoor/ outdoor living experience with the van as the bedroom and outdoor bathroom facilities, braai area and open deck to immerse in nature. Watch the YouTube tour below
